Celebrating Plant and Share month at Robin Hall Nursery

This month the children have been taking advantage of the lovely sunshine in the school garden.

They have been participating in ‘Plant and Share’ month, which began on the 19th of April and ends tomorrow.

As part of ‘Plant and Share’ month, the children joined a national competition launched by the Soil Association’s Food for Life programme to sow, grow and share what they have planted.

The competition asked children to grow their own plants in the most unusual containers they could think of.

Throughout the month, children have grown potatoes, tomatoes, strawberries, sunflowers, and a range of herbs in our Forest Garden.

For their plant pots, they used some creative and unusual containers like Wellington boots, watering cans, baby baths as well as a gigantic sink!

The children also decorated yogurt pots and plastic bottles and upcycled them into beautiful planters.

It has been wonderful to see the young children sowing seeds in the school garden and getting them involved in watering and looking after the plants as they have grown.
