Primary School

North London

A teaching professional with experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), you are ready to take on a more challenging role which will give you the opportunity to shape strategy and influence policy as well as enjoy hands on delivery. This SENCO role with Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust (C.H.A.T.) offers exactly that.

As SENCO we want you to work as part of a Trust central learning support team working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure we address the needs of vulnerable children. You will share some of the SENCO responsibilities of the school with other members of the Central Support Team.  In addition to teaching we will look to you to play a key role in developing and improving SEND provision within the academy generally, by setting objectives and evaluating performance. Working with our senior leadership team you will enable children with special educational needs to meet their full potential by designing and implementing personalised learning plans. You will also work with colleagues to ensure planning for a child’s learning and development is based on accurate and regular observations. As SEND champion you will encourage staff to promote high expectations for children as well as motivate children to reach their targets and have high aspirations.

For this critical role you must be a qualified teacher with a National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinators and a thorough knowledge of the Statutory Assessment Process. You must have extensive teaching experience in mainstream Primary and expertise in the identification, curricular planning and progress monitoring of students with SEND. You will have a clear understanding of Special Educational Needs legislation and best practice and its delivery throughout the curriculum as well as being used to working in partnership with all school stakeholders, including parents/carers, LA’s and external agencies.
